In this Blue coffee category, discover Béco. We named it this way because it evokes the comfort and softness of a little Béco: a word from Québec for a tender kiss, like the ones you’d get from grandma. This coffee also symbolizes a beautiful friendship: we discovered it thanks to a couple of friends, who themselves are connected to good friends in Costa Rica. For us, this coffee has become a true symbol of sharing, connection, and the joy of savoring moments together. Today, we’re proud to welcome it into our collection.

A clear and harmonious cup, where subtlety meets smoothness. Each sip reveals a gentle sweetness and depth that truly define its character.

How ?

The beans dry slowly on African beds for 18 to 22 days, turned regularly under the sun to preserve all their vitality. They are then moved to drying patios, where constant movement helps balance their moisture content. Once they reach 10.5% humidity, the beans rest for at least 22 days in a warehouse, allowing their aromas and character to fully develop.

Luis Carlos Torres

At the foot of Mount Chirripó, the highest peak in Costa Rica, in the wild valley of Rivas, the Torres family farms stretch across the meeting point of rainy and cloud forest ecosystems. This privileged location creates a mosaic of microclimates, offering a wide range of temperatures and sunlight exposure from one plot to another, ideal conditions for growing coffee.

The distinct dry season usually marks the beginning of the harvest: the sun’s warmth and dried-out soils allow the cherries to ripen slowly and perfectly. However, with climate change, conditions are becoming more variable and less predictable, making it harder to harvest at the optimal time and to dry the beans properly.

But it is Luis Carlos Torres, known as Lica, who brings true uniqueness to this land. Through his expertise and boldness, he has become a pioneer of specialty coffee in the region. A passionate experimenter, he constantly explores new fermentation and drying methods, turning each harvest into a collection of unique coffees, rich in character and aroma.
